Email and Outlook problems, fixed remotely

Fixed remotely, usually same day. You approve the price before any work starts.

    Independent support, not Microsoft

Before anything else: US Repairs LLC is an independent technology support company. We are not Microsoft, not Microsoft support, and not an authorised Microsoft service provider, and nothing on this page should be read as saying otherwise. We support Outlook, Microsoft 365, Gmail, Yahoo, Apple Mail, and whatever your internet provider gave you, because the problems are much the same whoever hosts the mailbox.

This matters more with email than with any other repair, because email is where impersonation happens. If a message, a pop-up or a telephone call claims to be Microsoft and tells you your mailbox will be closed unless you call a number or confirm a password, it is not Microsoft. Genuine providers do not work that way, and neither do we: we never call customers unprompted, and nobody legitimate will ever ask you to read a password aloud or type it into a chat window.

When Outlook is not working, the useful first question is whether the problem is the program or the account. Sign in to your mail through a web browser. If your messages are there and arriving normally, the account is fine and the fault is on your computer, which is the easier of the two. If the browser shows the same trouble, the problem is with the account or the provider, and the fix lives somewhere else entirely.

    Signs and symptoms

    • Outlook is not opening at all, or opens and sits stuck on "connecting" or "disconnected".
    • Email is not syncing: nothing new arrives, or sent messages never leave the outbox.
    • Outlook keeps asking for a password even though the password is correct.
    • Messages appear on your phone but not on the computer, or the reverse.
    • Folders, contacts, or older messages have disappeared.
    • Outgoing mail bounces, or your messages land in other people's spam folders.

    Common causes

    • Changed mail server settings or an account set up with the wrong incoming and outgoing details.
    • A provider that now requires modern sign-in or an app-specific password, which older setups do not supply.
    • A mailbox that is full, or a local data file that has grown too large or become damaged.
    • Two-step verification added to the account without the mail program being updated.
    • Rules, filters, or a compromised account quietly moving or forwarding messages.

    How we fix it remotely

    1. Identify the account and the exact failure

We note the provider, how the account is set up, the exact error wording, and whether the same account works on another device. That distinguishes a program problem from an account problem.

    2. Agree on the work and price

We explain what we propose to check and repair and the price for the work. Nothing proceeds until you approve it.

    3. Connect with your permission

A technician guides you through the remote connection. You can watch the session and end it whenever you want.

    4. Repair the account configuration

With your approval we review server settings, sign-in method, mailbox size, local data files, rules, and forwarding, and we correct what is wrong. You enter your own passwords; we do not ask you to read them out.

    5. Test in both directions and check the other devices

We send and receive test messages, confirm folders and contacts are present, and make sure your phone and other computers still work with the same account.

When remote support is not enough

    • An outage at your mail provider cannot be fixed from your computer; the fix is to confirm it and wait.
    • Mailbox or domain changes controlled by your provider or IT administrator need their involvement.
    • If the account itself was compromised, securing it comes first and may involve the provider's recovery process.
    • Contact US Repairs to discuss the device and arrange appropriate service. The Hampton address is a business address, not an invitation to visit or drop off equipment.

    Typical time and price

Most remote sessions are finished in one appointment, typically 45 to 90 minutes, and remote work starts from $79. Hands-on hardware repairs usually take one to three business days, depending on the parts required, and start from $99 in labor plus parts. These are starting prices: the final price depends on the work actually performed, so prices may vary. Your technician explains the scope and quotes the job before any work starts, and nothing proceeds until you approve it.

    Things to try yourself first

    1. Check the account in a browser

Sign in to your mail through a web browser. If messages arrive there, the account is fine and the problem is in the program on your computer.

    2. Restart and let the program reconnect

Close the mail program fully and reopen it. Confirm the computer's internet connection is working before changing any settings.

    3. Look at mailbox size and the outbox

A full mailbox stops delivery, and one oversized attachment stuck in the outbox can block everything behind it.

    4. Review rules and forwarding

Check for rules that move or delete messages and for any forwarding address you did not set. Unexpected forwarding is a warning sign worth acting on.

    5. Do not share your password

Enter passwords yourself. Support staff should never ask you to read a password aloud or type it into a chat window.

    Frequently asked questions

Why does Outlook keep asking for my password?

Usually the provider changed its sign-in requirements, two-step verification was added, or the stored credential is stale. Updating the account to modern sign-in, or to an app-specific password where the provider requires one, normally resolves it.

My email works on my phone but not my computer. Why?

That points to the program or profile on the computer rather than the account. Server settings, a damaged local data file, or an outdated sign-in method are the common causes.

I think my email was hacked. What should I do?

Act in this order. Change the password from a device you trust, not the one you suspect. Turn on two-step verification. Then check for forwarding rules and filters you did not create, because an intruder usually leaves one behind to keep reading your mail after you lock them out. Check recent sign-in activity if your provider shows it, and warn anyone who may have received a message pretending to be you. If money or bank details were involved, contact your bank directly and immediately. We can work through all of it with you, but those first two steps should not wait for an appointment.

    Are you Microsoft support?

No. US Repairs LLC is an independent, multi-brand technology support provider and is not Microsoft, Microsoft support, or an authorised Microsoft service provider. We support Outlook and Microsoft 365 alongside every other mail platform. You enter your own passwords during any session; we never ask you to read one aloud, and we never call customers unprompted.

    What does email support cost?

The time and price depend on what we find and the work you approve. We explain the proposed scope and quote before work starts, and you decide whether to proceed. Verified typical times and prices for this issue have not been added yet.
