Microsoft 365 or QuickBooks setup, handled remotely.
Fixed remotely, usually same day. You approve the price before any work starts.
Signs and symptoms
- Office applications open in reduced mode, or report that the product is unlicensed.
- Microsoft 365 will not install, or installs and then fails to sign in.
- QuickBooks will not open the company file, or reports that it is already in use.
- A second computer cannot reach the shared company file on the network.
- You are unsure which subscription you have, or who in the business owns the account.
Common causes
- The software signed in with a personal account instead of the business one, or with the wrong subscription.
- Licenses not assigned to the right users, or more installations than the subscription allows.
- A leftover older version conflicting with the new installation.
- Company-file access blocked by folder permissions, security software, or the hosting setting on the server computer.
- An operating system or version combination the software no longer supports.
How we fix it remotely
Confirm what you own
We establish which subscription or product you actually hold, which account owns it, and how many computers need it. Most setup problems start here.
Agree on the work and price
We explain the proposed installation or repair and the price. Nothing proceeds until you approve it.
Connect with your permission
A technician guides you through the remote connection. You can watch the session and end it whenever you want.
Install, activate, and configure
With your approval we remove conflicting old versions, install the correct product, sign in with the right account, and configure mail profiles, file locations, or multi-user access as agreed. You enter your own passwords.
Test the daily workflow
We open the files and features you use each day, confirm that each computer can reach what it needs, and explain how licenses are assigned so you can manage them later.
When remote support is not enough
- Subscription purchases, renewals, and ownership changes are made in your own vendor account, not by us on your behalf.
- Accounting questions about your books belong with your accountant or bookkeeper; we handle the software, not the accounting.
- Server hardware, on-site networking, and cabling for a multi-user file setup need someone at the premises.
- Contact US Repairs to discuss the device and arrange appropriate service. The Hampton address is a business address, not an invitation to visit or drop off equipment.
Typical time and price
Most remote sessions are finished in one appointment, typically 45 to 90 minutes, and remote work starts from $79. Hands-on hardware repairs usually take one to three business days, depending on the parts required, and start from $99 in labor plus parts. These are starting prices: the final price depends on the work actually performed, so prices may vary. Your technician explains the scope and quotes the job before any work starts, and nothing proceeds until you approve it.
Things to try yourself first
Find out who owns the subscription
Identify the account the software was bought under and make sure someone in the business can sign in to it. Lost ownership is the hardest part to unpick later.
Restart before reinstalling
Restart the computer and open the program again. Activation and sign-in problems often clear after a restart and a pending update.
Remove old versions before installing new ones
An earlier Office or QuickBooks installation left in place is a common cause of failed activation and file-association problems.
Back up the company file first
Make a copy of your QuickBooks company file before any upgrade, repair, or multi-user change, and keep it somewhere separate.
Download only from the vendor
Get installers from Microsoft or Intuit directly. Third-party download sites and cheap license sellers are a frequent source of unlicensed or altered software.
Frequently asked questions
Can you install and activate the software remotely?
Yes. With your permission, a technician installs the product, signs it in with the correct account, and configures it on each computer. You enter your own passwords during the session.
Do I buy the subscription, or do you?
You buy and own the subscription in your own vendor account, so the license stays yours. We help you work out what you need and then set it up correctly.
Is US Repairs part of Microsoft or Intuit?
No. US Repairs is an independent, multi-brand support provider and is not official manufacturer support. Where a vendor's own support or warranty is the better route, we tell you.
Can two people use the same QuickBooks company file?
That depends on your product and licensing. Multi-user access also requires the file host, folder permissions, and security software to be configured consistently, which we can set up and test with you.
What does setup cost and how long does it take?
The time and price depend on what we find and the work you approve. We explain the proposed scope and quote before work starts, and you decide whether to proceed. Verified typical times and prices for this issue have not been added yet.
